Ice and Refrigeration Facilities

Modern ice and refrigeration facilities at the Davao Fish Port Complex ensure a reliable cold chain system that preserves seafood freshness, maintains product quality, and supports the efficient operations of the fishing and seafood industry.

Ice Plant A is a high-capacity facility capable of producing 600 blocks of ice daily, with each block weighing 50 kilograms. The plant is equipped with a pre-cooling system that lowers the temperature of water before freezing, reducing ice-making time and increasing production efficiency. The superior quality of ice produced is attributed to the use of high-quality water and strict adherence to production standards.

To further strengthen ice supply and meet growing industry demand, Ice Plant B was completed in January 2025. With the same production capacity as Ice Plant A, it ensures a reliable and continuous supply of ice for fishing vessels, traders, processors, and other port users.

The facility follows Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), helping ensure that the ice is safe, clean, and suitable for preserving seafood while minimizing the risk of contamination throughout the handling and distribution process.

Complementing these facilities is an 80-ton cold storage room capable of maintaining temperatures as low as –35°C, providing optimal conditions for preserving seafood quality, freshness, and extending shelf life. This temperature-controlled environment helps maintain product integrity and supports compliance with food safety and export quality standards.

To further support logistics, the Davao Fish Port Complex operates four insulated delivery vans that provide ice delivery and rental services. These specialized vehicles help maintain the quality of ice during transport while ensuring fast, efficient, and reliable distribution to fishing vessels, seafood processors, traders, and other industry partners.

In addition, the facility is equipped with two (2) mobile storage units, each with a 40-foot container capacity and 20-ton freezing capability, providing flexible cold storage solutions that can be deployed as needed to support peak operational demand and emergency storage requirements.

Together, these facilities play a vital role in supporting the fishing industry by ensuring that seafood products remain fresh, safe, and market-ready throughout the supply chain, while reinforcing the Davao Fish Port Complex’s commitment to quality, food safety, and operational excellence.
